Mascots

Our furry mascots.

New Sinks

We decided that we really needed storage areas for the new bathrooms so we found vanities at this great spot that sells used fixtures and cabinets from foreclosures and tear downs. We found both vanities for under $100 so to us it was a steal for sure! The master bathroom has a center area and three drawers on each side of that.

Also, we decided to also do the sink bowls that sit directly on the countertops. I am very excited for these. They go with all of our white and brushed nickel items that are already in the house.

Updates galore....

Since we stayed in Florida this year for the holidays, we were able to get many projects done with downstairs. When break started we had most of the paint on, but still needed flooring down, trim and baseboard up, doors in, vanities and sinks installed, and the list goes on and on...

here are some pics of the progress...

The start of the flooring. Man am I glad we decided on this flooring because I am in love with the look, and it is incredibly easy to clean and install.

Here are some pictures of the finished floor.

You can also see our new baseboard in the photos. We went with the five inch option. When we installed the drywall it was about 2-3 inches short on the bottom. We filled it with thin strips of drywall, but buying higher baseboard was a way to ensure that the bottom would end up looking okay.

Wainscot is making an appearance as well. We have started it in the entrance way and

Doors are also installed for the master bedroom, bathroom, and closet. Just a few more doors to go! We are also working very hard to get all of the doors in and all of the trim up. Tile in the bathrooms and finishing the claw foot tubs are also on the list.

The Cook

A delicious pull apart pizza stuffed with spices, cheese, and pepperoni, also pizza sauce for dipping.

What a wonderful meal made from scratch by the hubby :)

My greatest gift of all

To love and be loved in return :)

Life is good.

Winter Break is Finally Here!

Today is our first day of winter break and we are enjoying every second of it! We had planned on sleeping in, but did not plan on crashing last night at 9pm. All of our work has caught up to us. We woke up this morning with a game plan of what will be happening in the next few days and then ran to the Depot to pick up what we needed to get through the day. We are planning to go back tomorrow evening for the last batch of things we will need (Wainscot for ceiling and walls, interior sliding doors, exterior doors for entry and back master bedroom, not to mention all of the baseboard and trim...needless to say we will need delivery :))

Last weekend I was lucky enough to have four friends come and help us paint the downstairs. We decided to stick with our beach theme and have selected a coral color for our master bed, bath, and closet. A robins egg blue for the entry way, with a light purple for the mudroom, and a neutral khaki for the other bedroom next to ours). Here are some pics (the colors appear MUCH brighter on the camera then they really are :))

Here is the coral master. We are planning on doing a wainscot ceiling and to add in beams.

This is what we are going for with the ceiling...

The entry way will also have wainscot, but halfway up on the walls. Here is what it looks like right now...

Here is the second downstairs bedroom and entry way into that room's bathroom

We felt very overwhelmed when we saw this...

...but we were very happy to have friends who were more than happy and willing to help :)

Tonight's task is to level down the concrete so that we can begin to clean and lay down our flooring. We will also be painting ceilings and looking into our lighting options. It is so exciting to see that the end is in sight...

Feeling very grateful to feel so very lucky. <3

Our Florida Friends

Here are some updates on our wildlife...

The Bear Family...

Snakes...

Our own furry friends (only Lita has ventured into the new space and actually made it down the stairs, but I know that they are all looking forward to having more room to roam, and more placed to hide :))

New Updates

We have done a lot since the last update on here. Electrical, plumbing, AC, and insulation are all done and we have moved on to our drywall...

The pictures below are of our master bedroom. We have picked out paint colors and I know we are both looking forward to the final stages and actually expanding our home into the downstairs area.

Here is our master bathroom and master closet. After four years of us sharing a SMALL closet, I am most excited for this :)

Mudroom...

Other bedroom on first floor...

Bathroom in that bedroom...

Entry way...I can't wait to paint the bench I found at a garage sale for $5 and put here...

We have just gotten the call that the flooring that we ordered is in! We will hopefully be priming the rooms today and should be on to painting by the end of the weekend (hopefully :)). We are sticking with the beach theme that the rest of the house has. It will be a very exciting Christmas since we will be doubling our square footage. I am sure it will feel as if we have moved into a new house!
